RAPIST cop Adam Carruthers may have used masonic links to cover up his crimes, it was claimed yesterday. The former police inspector was jailed for 12 years.

Police inspector Adam Carruthers, 38, was last
month sentenced to 12 years for raping two women. He thought he was untouchable - bullying his victims into silence, sneering that no-one would believe their accusations. One was the wife of a special constable. After Carruthers repeatedly raped her in 1994 and 1995, she attempted suicide. On the morning she returned home from hospital, he called round and raped her again in her bed while her husband was downstairs. Complaints by up to 20 alleged victims are now being investigated.
