Rapist Carruthers applied for Tesco job
Jul 24 2009 by Craig Robertson, Dumfries Standard Friday
NOTORIOUS rape cop Adam Carruthers tried to get a job in Tesco ... working shifts with women.
The disgraced former Langholm inspector applied for a cleaning job at their new store at Lockerbie Road in Dumfries.
But the sex beast, who was released from prison last year after his 2001 conviction for the brutal rape of two women, never showed up for the interview after the authorities stepped in and warned him off.
An insider on Carruthers’ community supervision said: “This just couldn’t happen.
“He would have been a threat to the women he would have been working with and as well as that he would be in a public place and may be in danger himself.”
It’s thought the job was for a cleaning supervisor.
Dumfries MSP Elaine Murray said she was shocked that the shamed policeman would even consider applying.
She said: “I am very suspicious that he would be looking to get a job like this where he would be working with women.
“My understanding is that he was not supposed to be around women under the terms of his release and obviously he knows that so why is he applying for a job in Tesco?
“He should not be doing that.
“It does concern me as he did not engage in his rehabilitation programme and on some level he does still believe he is innocent.
